- P.E.I. has three new cases of COVID-19, Chief Public Health Officer Dr Heather Morrison announced in the media on Saturday, September 18.

One person is under 10, and the other two are in their 40s and 60s, respectively.

Two of the men are closely linked to the outbreak at West Royalty Elementary School, the release said.

The two men had been alone. They had previously tested positive for the virus before being diagnosed with a recent test.

One of the people recently moved out of Atlantic Canada. Contact tracking is complete, means release.

In addition, West Royalty Elementary School and Ecole La-Belle Cloche will operate on Monday, September 20. Schools across the province will have high risk levels.

Circumstances will restore the collection of K-6 and masks will be mandatory for everyone passing through schools and buses. Grades 4 to 12 are required to wear masks unless they are eating, drinking or doing physical activity.

Fully vaccinated teachers can remove their masks while teaching if they are able to keep the steps away from physical activity.

Health officials say families can reach the local school board office or contact the Public School Branch at 1-800-280-7965 for questions.

Prince Edward Island currently has 46 active cases of COVID-19 and has had 281 positive cases since the epidemic began.

There are currently 540 people identified as close contacts who isolate themselves. This includes 295 related to the outbreak of West Royalty Elementary School. 166 are students, means release.

About 90 percent of students at West Royalty Elementary School - those who do not live alone - were tested yesterday at the school's pop-up clinic. All of these effects were negative, said the release.

Any student who has not been tested on Thursday, September 16 or Friday, September 17 will be contacted to schedule an exam before returning to school on Monday, September 20.
